Jackson, MN
Picture
Tyrone Wacker’s influence on Minnesota baseball spans more than 50 years, touching every level of the game from youth leagues to the amateur ranks.

His journey through the sport began in the 1960s as a player for amateur teams in the Gaylord, Stewart, and Hector areas, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to the dugout and the diamond.

In the 1970s, Ty moved to Worthington, where he expanded his impact by both playing and managing.

His leadership skills were further realized in 1985 when he founded a new amateur team in Jackson, a community that would become the heart of his baseball legacy.
Tyrone’s administrative contributions have been equally significant. He served as the Region 13C Commissioner and held the role of President of the Jackson Baseball Association for many years starting in 1989.

His coaching career is equally distinguished, including roles as the varsity head coach at Jackson County Central High School, as well as managing and coaching at the American Legion and VFW levels.

A tireless advocate for facility improvements, Ty was instrumental in modernizing the baseball experience in Jackson. Under his guidance, the local field saw the addition of a new scoreboard, a covered grandstand, an underground sprinkler system, and renovated dugouts. In a fitting tribute to his decades of service and passion, the baseball field in Jackson was officially named "Wacker Field."

Through his roles as a player, manager, coach, and administrator, Tyrone Wacker has ensured that the game of baseball remains a vibrant and essential part of the community for generations to come.
