Ron Litke’s legacy in Minnesota amateur baseball is defined by a lifelong commitment to the sport as a player, manager, and organizer.
His played high school baseball in Pierz and transitioned into the amateur ranks in 1960, marking the beginning of a career that has spanned over six decades of dedicated involvement.
Throughout his tenure, Litke was not merely a participant but a foundational force in the growth of the game. He played for and managed four distinct teams: Shady Brook, Brainerd, Harding, and Lastrup. He was instrumental in the formation of three of those organizations. His contributions off the field were as vital as his performance on it. He worked securing sponsors, recruiting talent, and finding fields on which to play.
Beyond the dugout, Litke’s leadership extended to the administrative governance of the game. He served as the Secretary of the Victory League and contributed his expertise as a member of the Region 8C Board, ensuring the smooth operation of league and region play.
His dedication to the future of the sport is further evidenced by his support of youth baseball programs in Pierz, to which he has donated both time and financial resources. Outside of the ballpark, he is active in his community, including membership at Holy Cross Church and ongoing involvement in various civic organizations and local events.
