![]() Tom Rademacher July 28, 1949 - January 5, 2023 Tom Rademacher, age 73, of Rosen passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Thomas Michael Rademacher was born on July 28, 1949 to parents Marcus and Clara (Laners) Rademacher in Ortonville, Minnesota. Tom loved his family, church, and Rosen Express baseball. Tom married Jeannie Roggenbuck on September 4, 1971. Growing up on the family farm outside Rosen was something that Tom cherished. Being the 8th of 11 children, a deep love of family and church was instilled at an early age. He was baptized and confirmed, and also attended 1st through 8th grades at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and School in Rosen. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1967. As a high schooler he competed in three sports in Bellingham; football, basketball, and baseball, but his true love was always baseball. Tom would often start a game at home on the farm and was known to be quite competitive. Losing didn’t sit well with him as his brothers often said. Sports and farm work were very intertwined in his life. As a young boy he couldn’t wait for the harvest of oats to begin building his next baseball field. He would hook up the B John Deere and drag it to make the next ball field. Not always getting permission from his Dad, he would con one of his brothers to ride on the drag to add weight.
He was drafted to Vietnam in March of 1969. He went to basic training in Louisiana for five months. From there, he flew to Vietnam where he was enlisted as an infantryman as an artillery gunner. He was there for two and a half months before suffering a foot injury. The injury forced him to spend the next year in hospitals both in Japan and Kansas where he received medical care. After returning stateside he began working at Lac qui Parle County as a Veterans Service Officer. He enjoyed his work and always put others in front of himself. He felt a deep gratitude for the opportunity to provide services to those who helped keep our country free. Tom felt very proud of how our country’s attitude toward Veterans had changed from his time coming home to present day. Tom and Jeannie raised five boys outside of Rosen. Nothing brought Tom more joy than watching his boys play sports. He and Jeannie would plan their lives around all five boys’ sports schedules and did everything they could to never miss a game. Once the boys were grown, Tom loved to watch his grandkids do what they loved whether it was in the gym, on the ball field, or on stage. Grandpa loved to build the grandkids a fire, give them golf cart rides, make his world-famous popcorn, root beer floats and homemade fries. Never having girls of his own, Tom loved his daughters-in-law who he named “his gals.” Holidays and family get-togethers at Tom and Jeannie’s were filled with love, laughter, and Tom’s quizzes. Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeannie Rademacher of Rosen; his sons and their wives, Jerry and Kelly of Sauk Rapids, Robyn and Andria of Rosen, Redgey and Kelly of Big Stone City, Trent and Emelie of Rosen, and Mickey and Emily of Ortonville; grandchildren, Mason, Gretchen, Larkin, Bennett, Peyton, Hattie, Brady, Brielle, Braylon, Bronson, Willa, and Briar; siblings and their spouses, Fr.
