Don Goracke

Don Goracke's dedication to baseball has spanned over six decades, leaving an indelible mark on the Morris community. His involvement in the sport has been multifaceted, encompassing roles as a player, coach, manager, teacher, and mentor to countless baseball players.

Don's influence has extended across all levels of baseball in Morris. He has contributed to T-ball, Little League, Babe Ruth, VFW, Legion, high school, and college baseball programs and organizations. His expertise has also been shared through various baseball camps.

His own playing career in amateur baseball stretched from the late 1940s through the late 1970s. Demonstrating his enduring passion for the game, he also participated with the Morris Legends senior men’s baseball team.

Beyond the baseball diamond, Don has been a vital member of the Morris community. He is a dedicated member of the Lions Club, where he received their highest award for service. He has also served on the Morris Park Board, sports boosters, and the community education board, which oversees baseball facilities.

Don's commitment to service extends to his faith. He is an active member of the Assumption Catholic Church, where he has served on various committees and boards.

Don Goracke's life reflects a profound dedication to baseball and his community. His contributions have shaped the lives of numerous athletes and strengthened the fabric of Morris.

After years of dedication to family and baseball, Don sadly passed away on July 5, 2025.  He will be greatly missed.
